Great examples of what a fine naturalist Thoreau was, and good models to follow for those just starting out on their calling to observe nature.
Good Thoreau book. Very relaxing.
Excursions is an excellent example of Thoreau's writings. But for the true Thoreauist his journals are the best.

Learned a much more than I would have expected. I did not know that there was so much exploration of the Merrimack
River. This book added a lot to my knowledge of Thoreau
As with his other writings, this is very good and insightful. Thoreau was one of the sharpest and brightest minds of his generation, and his detachment of the common, bourgeois man is notorious.
Nothing he wrote is better than Walden, but this one is very good.
A profound example of Thoreau’s ability to go fishing for deeper meaning within his own backyard; a shame that more is not available.
