Good info and well written, but the message (eat better sleep and exercise more) is pretty simple. Once you buy in you're just reading more and more arguments to convince you of something you're already going to do.Product details

The Ripple Effect Sleep Better Eat Better Move Better Think Better Greg Wells 9781443436939 Books Reviews
Recently I flew from Australia to the US and was lucky enough to have a copy of this book to read. What I love about this book is that it is easy to read. Dr Wells is a terrific writer - he takes the latest in complicated scientific research findings and explains them in a way that is easy to understand and enjoyable to read. Most importantly his book convinced me to start making the changes that he was suggesting because he explained why they were important and also how to implement them.
This book focuses on the linkages between the four elements of sleeping, eating, moving and thinking. It explains how, by making a change to one element, this leads to a ripple effect on the others. While this is not a new concept to me, the way Dr Wells explains the linkages allowed me to see the importance of putting what he was writing about into action to help deliver the results I was after.
I know that for me this book has already helped me to make better choices. By making small changes, there has been less resistance and because the changes have made me feel better I want to keep doing them.
So unless you are the perfect sleeper, are your ideal weight, are getting enough exercise and are brilliant as well, then I would recommend that you buy this book, read it as soon as you possible and start making those small changes. You deserve the best life you can. This book will help you get there.
Exercise Medicine Researcher Wells presents an easy to understand approach to making simple changes on a daily basis that improve the reader's health as well as quality of life. Wells makes a convincing case about the ways that sleep patterns, diet, daily exercise all influence physical and mental health, and explains how to change sleep, eating, exercising and thinking habits on a step by step, day by day basis that carry big results. Most helpful in this book are the "Dr. Greg's 1% tips" presented throughout the copy, offering practical things that aren't difficult or expensive to implement, but pay big dividends, such as eatging watermelon after working out, strategically setting your alarm clock, the benefits of napping, and choosing high quality protein snacks. Readers who accept Wells' challenge to implement simple 1% changes in how they go about their lives can realize life-changing rewards to their physical health and mental well-being.
After I appeared as a guest on Gregg Wells' podcast, he was kind enough to send me The Ripple Effect. Due to numerous other books in the queue, I only dipped into it then put it back in the pile. But the opening pages made such good sense, and the information was (based on my own background and research) spot-on and cutting-edge. So I recently picked up the book again and just finished it.
I believe The Ripple Effect would have benefitted from a rigorous pruning by an additional editor; yet the book nonetheless deserves a five-star rating for a simple reason It's one of the soundest and well-researched holistic books I've ever come across about practical changes anyone can make to improve their health, performance, sleep, and even mental state through well-informed, do-able changes toward (a) modest, regular exercise; (b) eating more of what's good for us and less of what's not (which Dr. Wells makes very clear), and (c) getting enough rest.
I give give away most books once I've read them. But this one will find permanent residency on my limited-space bookshelf. It's a keeper — a book that motivates and inspires to a lighter, more healthful and effective body and life.
was a good read with alot of good information would reccomd this book to others to read
It teached me the importance of sleep, which is no more a waste of time but an important period in our daily activities. Very practical and enthusiastic book.
Backed by research, Dr. Wells outlines a plan to stimulate a person to sleep better, eat better, move and think better. Throughout the book, he adds 1% tips to make the transition easier. Words of wisdom by various people in all walks of life are focused on throughout as well as narratives of people who have overcome bewildering obstacles and emerged to live a better life. The last chapter outlines seven types of people, the most important keys and a schedule for each. I recommend this book to all who want to live a winning life.
It's pretty basic stuff, but tying it all together with examples plus current research really drives it home. As a nurse and someone that's read a lot of health/fitness related books this is probably the best book on health I've read. Watching family and friends get caught up on stupid diets etc, this book is simple and real. It's not some stupid fad, no gimmicks, just simply down to earth health advice. I bought 3 more copies to spread the good word.
Good info and well written, but the message (eat better sleep and exercise more) is pretty simple. Once you buy in you're just reading more and more arguments to convince you of something you're already going to do.
